Auditioning!... with Jade Wooldridge

Next up we have Jade, who joined YAF in 2012 performing for Arts in the Park. She has since been part of many projects including Weird Sisters, A Chorus Line and The Peninsula dance performance series.

Jade, what do you do to prepare for an audition?
Practice, practice, practice! Stretch out and warm up really well before any audition, whether it’s singing, acting or dance! I always find stretching before helps me relax.

你在面試前要準備甚麼？
練習、練習、練習！不論是歌唱、演戲或舞蹈的遴選，在面試開始前必須做好熱身動作！我覺得熱身有助我放鬆。

Top tips?
• Be confident! Try to at least appear comfortable and confident in yourself and your ability.
• Arrive early. Give yourself time to mentally prepare, warm up, do whatever you need to do to get yourself ready!
• Have a good attitude! Showing that you're enthusiastic and ready to learn. The nerves are always there, but try to convert them into good energy!
• Make sure you get a good sleep in the night before! Drink a lot of water (but not too much!) and make sure you're eating healthily leading up to the audition. It'll help boost your energy levels so you can perform at your best!

• 要有自信！嘗試表現出舒適和自信，相信自己的能力。
• 預早到達試場。讓自己有時間去準備面試的心情、熱身、做好所有的預備功夫！
• 保良好的態度！展示你的熱情及學習精神。緊張的情緒一定有，但盡量將它變成正面的能量！
• 在面試你前一天晚上好好睡一覺！喝大量的水（但不要太多！ ），直至面試前都保持良好的飲食習慣。這能有效地提高能量水平，讓你在面試中表現最佳狀態！

What's it like auditioning for a YAF show?
Honestly, it's pretty scary! You need to try to put your best foot forward during auditions, and when there is a room full of people watching you, it can be quite intimidating! On the other hand though, the YAF team really does try to make everyone feel as comfortable as they can through the audition process.

參與YAF的遴選面試是怎樣的？
老實說，那是有點可怕的！你要在面試中展現你最好的一面，而當所有人都注視著你，這確是使人畏懼！不過，YAF的工作人員會盡量使大家在面試過程中感到舒適自在一點。

What is your favourite thing about being in a show?
Everything! I honestly couldn't choose one thing. From the rehearsal process, to meeting and bonding with everyone in the cast, to the actual performances, it's all an amazing experience!

為什麼你喜歡參與表演？
我喜歡關於表演的一切！老實說，我無法只選擇當中的一件事。由綵排、到劇中各演員聚集一起、直至表演的閱上，一切都是美妙的體驗！

What are YAF rehearsals like?
It’s amazing to be surrounded by talented people who love the same things as you do. Through the rehearsal process you bond with the rest of the cast, who, a lot of the time, are people you wouldn't have gotten to meet otherwise. Rehearsals also have such a professional atmosphere, but they're still so much fun. Being surrounded by amazing people gives so many opportunities to learn from them, so each rehearsal is also a great learning experience.

能簡述一下YAF的綵排情況嗎？
能夠與才華洋溢的人一同分享大家都喜愛的事，這實在太美妙了！ 在綵排過程中，你與其他演員連繫在一起，而他們都是你大多沒有機會能夠遇上的。 而綵排的氣氛是相當認真的，但他們還是製造了很多樂趣。被這群了不起的人所包圍，讓我有更多機會向他們學習，使每次排練都是一個很好的學習機會。
